Mechanical hazards refer to moving machinery that can cause injury or death, according to Texas State University. OSHA explains that mechanical hazardsoccur in three basic areas: at the point where work is performed, in the power transmission apparatus and in other moving parts.

- Guillotine; shearing, electrocution
- Paper shredders; dust (causing Occupational Asthma), noise, electrocution
- Abrasive wheels; contact, noise, electrocution
- Lathes; entanglement, noise dust, electrocution
- Simple robots; impact, electrocution
- Mechanical & hydraulic presses; crush and/or shearing, noise
- Portable power tools; electrocution, noise, dust
